Tablelands in north Queensland, and specialising in the mass production
of seedlings for timber plantations. Seedlings produced at Yuruga are transported
to timber plantations throughout Australia including WA, NT, SA, VIC, NSW
and QLD.
- Australian
Organic Bamboo Industry - As global warming continues the need for a
sustainable approach to fibre and fuel resources becomes critical. Cheap
renewable sources of fibre are essential for our future and the demand for
these natural resources is growing. Bamboo has a role to play in addressing
these problems. It is a plant (c3 species) that can produce food, fuel and
fibre from the same clump and is unique in its vigorous production of annually
renewable biomass. It is also ideally suited to the tropics and sub-tropics
of Australia.
- North Queensland
Afforestation Assoc - An Incorporated Association of Local Government
covering the ten shires of the Wet Tropics and Cape York regions of Tropical
North Queensland.
- North Queensland Timber Coop
- The North Queensland Timber Cooperative (NQTC) Limited is a non-profit
organisation of private native forest and plantation owners. Its primary
purpose is to assist freehold property owners to sell timber products in
a coordinated way to maximise financial returns.
- Queensland Forestry Research
Institute - The Queensland Forestry Research Institute (QFRI) provides
high quality research, development and advisory services to enhance the
economic, environmental and social values of natural and planted tropical
and subtropical forests.
- Ravenshoe Timbers
Pty Ltd - Ravenshoe Timbers produces two categories of product depending
on the quality of the wood. Wood from the center of the tree is generally
low in quality so it is mainly used as building materials. Wood from the
outer sections of the tree is generally higher in quality so it is put into
mouldings and architraves. All the timber is kiln dried which allows for
further value adding, rather then just selling it as rough sawn. To make
mouldings and architraves the dry timber must be docked and fingerjoined
before going through a planer to get the finished profile.
- Australian Forest Growers
- If you grow trees commercially and mainly for wood production or you would
like to, Australian Forest Growers can help you.
